I've always liked the nickname Jamie, but it seems like just that- a nickname.
Any unique/old fashioned first names that could have the nickname Jamie? I was thinking of Jemima, but I can't get over the maple syrup association. :)
What are some unique/old fashioned girls names with the nickname Jamie?
For a feminine name, Jamie is not a nickname for anything that I know of. All the girl Jamies I know that is their given name.
Reply:In Scotland, they used to call daughters after their dad and then add "-ina" on the end. You say it "eye-nah", like Williamina, Jamesina, etc. That's where names like Willemina come from (but most people now pronounce it "ee-na" now).
So, for old-fashioned, you could go with Jamesina.
Really you can shorten anything to Jamie if you want to. Like they used to shorten Margaret to Peg ... I mean, it doesn't even have the same letters.
Some I can think of that might have the same kind of sound:
Jamison
Aimee (which means "beloved" and you call her Jamie to rhyme. Plus j'aime is French for "I love" so it's kind of cute)
Jamaica
Janine
Jemma
Hope that helps. Good luck!
Reply:You could always use Jamie as a middle name, and call her Jamie instead of her first name. Because honestly I can't think of any "old fashioned" names that shorten to that. Just don't do Jamie Lynn....I keep thinking Spears there.
Reply:I can't think of any, but Jamie, or Jaime is really nice on it's own.
Janie is really cute too and there are probably lots of choices for more formal names with that one.
Janelle
Janessa
Janeen /Janine
Janice
Reply:My name is Jami. I have always liked it. I like that my parents spelt it diffrent.
And Jemima reminds me of syrup also.
Reply:I can't think of a name but go ahead and use Jaime as her name. It doesn't sound so much like a nickname and is WAY better than Jemima now days, trust me. :)
