What do you think about these unusual girls names?

The names are:

Hazel

Easter

Evelyn

Avalon

Eleanor-Rose

Alice

Ashlette

Which is your favorite and least favorite? Thanks =] MERRY CHRISTMAS!

What do you think about these unusual girls names?
Hazel, Eleanore, and Alice are gorgeous! Rose is lovely as a first name, common and overused as a middle.

Easter is a Holiday, not a name. Evelyn and Avalon will be shorten to the super common and popular names Eva and Ava.

Ashlette looks madeup and trashy.
Reply:Hazel- Beautiful, I love this name

Easter- As pretty as it is, I wouldn't want to share the same name as a holiday.

Evelyn- Well, this is my grandma's name so I'm not crazy about it for a little girl

Avalon- VERY pretty. It's a powerful sounding name.

Eleanor-Rose- I like the Rose on the end but Eleanor seems a little too old fashioned for my taste. Still pretty though.

Alice- Very old-timey. It's my step-grandmother's name. But it's cute. Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.

Ashlette- Very unusual but I like it a lot!
Reply:I like Hazel for a boy and a girl.

Easter really just reminds me of the holiday.

Evelyn is really cute, but I wouldn't consider it unique.

Avalon is very pretty :)

Eleanor-Rose: I like it a lot, bit only if it's not hyphenated.

Alice is old-fashioned, but I still like it. Not unique though, just not commonly used any more.

Ashlette is gorgeous...I've never heard it before either, so it is defnitely unique!

And Merry Christmas!

I'll give you a star as a gift ;)
Reply:Favorite: Hazel.

It's gorgeous and old-fashioned, and definitely unusual, but in the best possible way.

Least Favorite: I'm torn between Easter and Ashlette lol.

Easter is just way too strange for me, and I can see her getting a lot of crap about it in school. Ashlette sounds like the epitome of blond to me lol. I think it's just that it sounds so made-up, and being a variant of Ashley (which I like, but honestly, is kind of a flighty name).

I also love Alice a lot, as well as Eleanor-Rose (though I prefer Eleanor on its own without the hyphen, and Lily-Rose as my favorite -Rose combination).
Reply:I dont mind unique names for a girl and you did a great job avoiding the cute-sy names that seem to be so popular lately.

Favorite:Hazel...and oldie but goodie- I love that you are thinking of bringing that name back.

least fav: Probably Easter. You must be due around Easter which would be cute if she was born that day but since Easter jumps around every year, the intention behind it may fall flat.

Best of luck to you and your upcoming little one!!!!!!!

Oh and Merry Xmas :)
Reply:Avoid naming your children after holidays or anything religious. Last week I met a 9-year old girl whose mother had named her "Messiah" and was proud of it. Yech. Hyphenated named names both look and sound like affectations unless you own a plantation in Mississippi and plan on home-schooling her--names like that are rough on a kid and sound prematurely old. I dislike cutesy names with a good root and a trendy ending like Ashlette because they ARE affected and classrooms have been littered with them for too long (I teach). And she'll grow out of it by the time she's done with H.S.--it's a name for a kid, not an adult. I don't know what the last name is so I can't judge sound, BUT:

Hazel= a bit old-fashioned; for someone in the Junior League

Evelyn= A lovely name that should not have fallen out of fashion

Avalon= a very nice update of Evelyn, and a class will not have six of them like during The Great Jennifer Invasion

Alice=nothing wrong with it, but not much zip on it either. You might consider ANNE as an alternative--it's graceful and has a nickname for a kid and an adult form as well. Oddly, my 36-year-old daughter has returned to Annie on her business cards.

AN ALTERNATIVE: EACH OF YOU GOES TO A SEPARATE ROOM FOR 20-30 MINUTES AND LISTS SIX NAMES. THE NAME SHARED AND HIGHEST ON BOTH LISTS WINS. Gives you grounds for negotiation, too. Anne and Ben came up on the top of both our lists, and nobody has ever called him anything but Big Ben, never Benjamin.
Reply:Hazel-- interesting, it's gaining in popularity and broke the top 500 in 2007... it's okay

Easter-- no way

Evelyn-- very pretty

Avalon-- interesting

Eleanor-Rose-- I don't like hyphenated names, I think it looks bad, Eleanor and Rose are both nice names though

Alice-- nice

Ashlette-- reminds me of a towelette. Don't like it.

My favorite on the list is Evelyn.
Reply:Oh, those are great names!

My favorite is Hazel. Ashlette is really good, too.

Eleanor-Rose is my least favorite simply because of the dash, I think complicated names are harder on the kids and when they grow up filling out forms and stuff.
Reply:well avalon i think of the band (its a christian band)

and i dont like ashlette much, and elanor-rose sounds very classic and pretty.
