Do you think boys names are harder to come up with than girls names?

It seems like there are a ton of girls names that I like but I am having a boy. There are a couple that I like but none seem to be THE ONE.

Do you think boys names are harder to come up with than girls names?
I'm having the same problem as you are right now!

Their are soooo many wonderful girls names out there, but good boys names are limited!!

Kind of like the kids clothing section in the stores. The girls sections are always huge with many different styles and varieties. The boys sections are always smaller and not much to choose from!

Why is that!!

Good luck and I hope WE find the one, soon!!
Reply:Yes, I think its because boys names can be more stereotypical also a tad sexist. For example its more "accepted" in US culutre to give a girl a boyish sounding name but not a boy a girlish sounding name. Not the way it should be, but seems to be the way it is. Plus with girls you can always add an "anna" or ""ina: or "ee" sound to the end of something to make it more unique.
Reply:I agree!! I think girls names are easier to come up with but harder to narrow down to one. And boys names are harder to come up with but easier to decide on the one.

Everytime you see a boys name that you think is okay, add it to your list. Eventually one will stick out for you as THE ONE. You'll know it when you hear it. Try www.nymbler.com and type up to 6names that you like. It will then come up with other names similar to those that you like. This might help you out.

best of luck and congratulations!!
Reply:I WAS GOING TO NAME MY SON MICHEAL ANTHONY BUT I HAD A GIRL INSTEAD SO IT'S MICHELLE ANN!
Reply:oh, i totally feel the same...i have 5 different girl names picked out..and I havent came up with ONE name for a boy...I think it's harder naming a boy, because you kind of want a strong masculine name...but nothing too soft for a boy..it is quite difficult!
Reply:Yes, i'm having trouble finding a boy name. i like Daven but my husband doesn't!
Reply:It depends on the family.

We have three girls already, and a fourth on the way, so while our girl list was MUCH shorter -- mainly since anything too similar to the older girls' names was automatically ruled out -- I absolutely loved the three names we'd narrowed it down to.

Our boy list was fairly long, on the other hand, but there wasn't a certain one I absolutely regret not being able to use. In other words, plenty of names I love -- having never had a chance to name a boy LOL -- but not that one specific name I'll always feel I'd somehow "missed out" on, if you follow.

The first and middle name we're planning to use for our fourth daughter, however, are exactly the names I'd have felt bad about not getting to use. So while a boy name certainly wouldn't have been too difficult to come up with, there being so many we both liked quite a bit, I wouldn't say the girl's was "harder." It just presented more issues as far as what we liked and felt would work with the children we already have (so dependent on our personal situation), but the few we liked we liked a LOT. I suppose it just depends on how you look at it. ;)
Reply:I always had a ton of boys names, but could never find girls names I liked. I didn't want them to be too "frilly" and I wanted them to be a name that would still work well for them as an adult.

Reply:My family has a lot of girls in it and I don't really want to use a family name so for me I have more options for boy names..no kids yet so we'll see when the time comes.
Reply:i think boys names are harder 'cuz there is less of them.but for some reason i like the name jaimie 4 a boy but not a girl!http://babynames.com/

Reply:NO! NO! NO! They are the same grade of difficulty. if you still haven't found the "right" one, try thinking outside the box.

1. look into foreign names. there are some so exotic, and some that are simply sexy, and their meanings are divine.

2. have a list with all the boy name possible, as long as it can be. and say each one and pause in between. when the baby kicks at one, you pick it. pretty much, the baby will pick his own name.

3. look into your granparent's middle names, you may be surprised what they are.

good luck.
Reply:I think boy's names are easier. I like many more boy names then girl names. It's harder for me to think of girl names
Reply:Yeah. I think girls names r easier to think of.
Reply:I think its because there are so many unique names for girls and more traditional names for boys it is harder because everything seems over done, or boring now for boys. Whereas with girls there are new names or traditional names that have been forgotten and that gives you alot more choices.

I am pregnant with a boy right now. We decided to go through our family tree and try to find names or middle names that we really liked. We were thinking of it as a start, not planning on finding any real name we liked but to get ideas for what we did and didnt. We ended up going with my Hubbies Middle name Adam and his fathers middle name Everett. The two put together just seemed right. We also looked on babynames.com
Reply:I know what you mean. boys names seem so difficult to come up with.
