I am trying to decide between two girls names, do you like either Mackinley or Emmerson?

Our surname starts with S so I am a bit concerned that the "son" part of Emmerson may end up being too much of a mouthful when you put the two names together. Also what would be the natural nicknames for these do you think?

I am trying to decide between two girls names, do you like either Mackinley or Emmerson?
I love you name Emmerson and you could call her emmy
Reply:Def like Mackinley, very feminine and unique. Emmerson, sounds like a street name, the name of a school. :( blah
Reply:You are right about the "s" part, however I do like Emmerson. Mack or Mick is probably a nick name for Mackinley.
Reply:cute names - why have nicknames?
Reply:I like Mackinley better. her nickname would be Mac. so if you like it then choose it.
Reply:GREETINGS, I love emmerson, you can call her emme, emma for short too. MacKinley sounds more masculine, plus we have a MacKinley mall up here in NY so it wouldn't be cool up here to have that name. Plus with emmerson if you had a middle name the son part won't interfere with your last name how about Emmerson MacKinley S-------?
Reply:I know someone who's naming her little girl Emmerson..not crazy about it though...Mckinley's cute though
Reply:I personally don't like either name for a girl they sound more masculine to me. But a nickname for Mackinley could be Kinley or just lee, and for Emmerson you could call her Emma.
Reply:Very unique names i must say. Not a fan of either personally, but you choose what you think is best for your child. Remember it is a name your child will have to live with for her life so chose wise. You don't want your child do have a name she hates or will get made fun of for. . Is she gonna have a middle name? if so you need to watch what her intials spell. I worked with a guy who's initials were. A.S.S. I am not kidding you one bit. That's his initials.
Reply:I don't really care for either name...they are not very feminine. The natural nicknames for them would be Mac or Emmy, I guess. I'm afraid Mackinley would get called McKenzie (because it sounnds almost the same and it's a common name) and I agree with you on the fact that Emmerson doesn't go well with a last name beginning in S. If I were you, I'd go back to the drawing board. If you do some research, you may find other names you like even better!
Reply:I am currently pregnant with twins boys and we are naming them London and Emerson. My husband is a writer and wanted literary names. So, we are naming them after Jack London and Ralph Waldo Emerson. However, Emerson (or Emmerson for the way your spelling it) is a unisex name and I think would be very cute for a girl. A nickname would be Em, Emmy, or Emma.
Reply:sorry but i dont like either,
